All you need to know about locks and picking them

Riders on the Storm

New lock picking tools are creating quite a buzz in the various lock picking forums, I haven’t tried them myself yet but the general impression  so far is  very good.

These picking tools are made in the UK by Storm And I think they can be an answer for our humble requests –  flexible lock picks, which are thin enough with a good grip and for the right price…

There is still no price for these picks yet but I think it would be possible to buy each pick individually which is  a good  thing since each LP has his own 2-3 favorite picks.

Also Strom did a very good move by sending out free samples to various forum members so  a reliable and honest comments may help any potential buyer  to decide

I really wish that Storm will make it as it is important  for us LP to have a good lock picking manufacture designer which we can work together  as locks are getting more more complex now with trap pins and sidebars and a good relationship between us and the manufactures can help us help them. Also those picks are made in Great Britain which I’m sure  are made of  good Quality

I will  keep an update of those lovely picks prices and info

Here is Strom’s website

I highly recommend that you purchase a set. The picks are working jewels of art that are exceptionally made. The alpa 63 set that i purchased are better than falle safe and many others. You won’t regret your purchase.

Hello guys I am Tim from storm, really nice to meet some of you at the show. Thank you for your kind words and support at the weekend. I would like to address Raf’s comment concerning design/manufacture, and let you all know that I have never picked a lock in my life. I designed the entire range of picks relying on Scott and the likes of you guys for input and advice, without which there would be no product. I look forward to your comments and advice in the future to help us at storm adapt and improve the range. You are the ones that design the stuff we merely make it.

Tim , Is it possible, when purchasing the serial numbered set to pick your own serial number? It would be 6 numerals followed by a letter. That would sure make a big influence on my decision to buy or not? Maybe throw in that vicious looking camo roll-up case, and we would be shaking hands.

Lol….how did a private post between Tim and I get posted here under my name? I DID NOT post this here! I sent it to Tim through the Storm site….however I did get the Alpha 63 set, and absolutely loved them….until I noticed that there were no hooks….well they called 3 picks hooks, but they were more like dimple picks with 90° right angled tips??….so I had to modify them which is difficult because it’s got 3? Laminated layers of steel and they tend to separate if you try to put a curve in them….
Other then that major problem…..I think they are the cats ass, and absolutely stunning when you un-roll that soft black leather roll….and it’s got alot, knives, curves, tons of rakes….I was kinda disappointed that you don’t receive every pick…like most companies, when you pay for the best you get the best…..
I guess Storm doesn’t….they sold me there most expensive set, and then expected me to pay $10 each for the important picks….
If you want to get these works of art you’d better act fast. The last time I visited the site most of the stock was gone. You can’t buy the Alpha 63 for sure, and I think all the sets are gone? The aluminum handles are gone both the original and the new black ones, but they do have new clear shrink tubing cut to length sold in 3 or 5 packs I think.

So my final thought about these is they are the best looking and the best made, I’ve ever seen or used, just make sure you get the picks you need…but my favorite picks are still my Sparrows….
